Our clients for this project had recently purchased a new home and wanted to replace the existing kitchen and butler's pantry. With an eye for design, our client played a significant role in how this space was executed. With an idea of the overall layout in mind and having selected each of the finishes, fittings and fixtures, they required assistance to bring each of these elements together and see their vision come to fruition.
The overall design intent was to create a minimalistic and contemporary space, which was sympathetic to the traditional elements within the home. Special focus was placed on creating a custom joinery profile to achieve this. To reduce unnecessary construction costs and meet the required timeline, the original floor plan was replicated for the overall layout. The relocation of appliances, increase in usable bench space and the incorporation of innovative storage solutions enhanced the functionality throughout.
The butler's pantry was transformed into a separate, self-contained space, allowing for the preparation and clean up of meals away from public view. A retractable pantry was also added to disguise appliances and store items as needed. The addition of an entertainment unit in the living and dining area helped to define the large open space, making it appear more purposeful and intimate.
This project is a true demonstration of how the client, designer and joiner can collaborate to achieve a flawless space that is the heart of the home. This is a showpiece that will continue to make a statement and impress for many years to come.
