This job was a little different than your typical interior design project. A special client who I have worked with for several years, approached me to design an outdoor courtyard. My client wanted to bring this space to life and utilise it more often. As the home was a rental property, everything that was selected had to be removable too.
As the courtyard acts as the entryway to the home, it was important to make a statement upon entry. This was achieved by incorporating a vista at the end of the path through the use of a large screen, softened by a Magnolia tree. Along both sides of the path, an array of flowering trees and plants were added to bring colour and life to the space. A small herb garden was set up by the front door. Not only was this addition practical, it was visually appealing and added a lovely scent to the entry.
To evoke a feeling of harmony and bring soothing sounds to the space, an outdoor water feature was also included. To ensure it was removable, a large outdoor pot was chosen and waterproofed, in conjunction with a solar pump for the fountain itself. To enhance the space at night, solar lights were placed below the key features within the garden and an LED strip light was fixed to the underside of the hand rail.
This space is now a beautiful sanctuary that my client enjoys with family, friends and pets. It was an extremely special project to work on.
